Today I beat my mother-in-law at Bananagrams three times! That is a huge victory! Not only because it's my mother-in-law ;) but because usually the shoe is on the other foot. Manys the time we played only for me to walk away with the "agony of defeat"...but not today. I've found that one of the best ways to calm my racing brain was to play a game. It started with me playing solitaire right after the accident. The repetitiveness of the movements soothed me. It was familiar; the outcome was assured. Now I play a whole slew of games each morning. It helps clear the foggy brain I sometimes wake up with. I play Wordle, Waffle, Connections, The Times Mini Crossword, and Strands. All of these games have something in common. They all deal with language and vocabulary. That is the area of my brain that was affected by my accident. There's nothing like making learning fun to encourage one to keep doing it.
